Our Saturday night routine on a weekend we have the kids is to get them off their consoles/phones and play a board game or something we can do together. The youngest goes to bed, we have our dinner and then once dinner is finished we get together and play a game.

Saturday, we decided to do one of the Murder Mystery games by Case & Clues – this is actually the second one that we have done this year.

For Valentines, I bought James the ‘Until Death Do Us Part’ pack and we loved it, as did the kids, so we looked at buying a couple more! I bought ‘Dead Famous’ and ‘Kiss off Death’ – the kids decided they wanted to do ‘Dead Famous’. The quality of the packs are great. Everything is printed to such a high quality and the instructions are very clear.

In the pack you always get a briefing letter from the head detective on the case, talking you through the initial findings, what evidence they have collected and what do to once you have narrowed down your suspects (this is in a separate envelope for you to open at a later time!)

The evidence included: brochures, leaflets, magazine articles, advertisements, instagram posts, autopsy report and toxicology report.

Find the motives, work out a timeline – who has an alibi and then work out who you think it is. Once you’ve narrowed it down to 2-3 suspects, you can open the confidential letter which will have a couple more clues to help the investigation further.

Once you think you know who it is, scan the QR code – and type who you think the murderer was – if you’re right, then there will be a final newspaper article, confirming who it was, what they’re motive was and/or any other backstory they may have.

Out of the two we have done so far – I did prefer the Until Death Do Us Part pack. There was a lot more you had to work out and I think the discussions got everyone involved. I think initially found this one quite difficult but as one person was reading one bit of evidence and talking out loud – another person reading evidence spotted some inconsistencies and that really got the ball rolling for us.

I have downloaded a couple of others and printed myself, but I can 100% vouch for the quality and detail that Case & Clues have put into their packs. There has been so much time and effort put into the packs – and it does give it a sense of reality to the game. I am so fascinated by the fact that their cases are based on real life as well.

We have got another pack to do – and then I think I’m going to look if any of them are a little bit more challenging. I get so invested in it that I am upset by the time that we have worked it out and the game is finished!

So yes, highly recommended purchasing these!

The basic pack is £23.99 which just contains the general pack.

The updated packs include general pack, the corkboard poster and alternative endings for £28.99

The ultimate packs include general pack, alternative endings, the corkboard poster, story walkthrough video, some bonus content and a food and drink pairing guide.

The one I got for James for Valentines [Until Death Do Us Part] I got the ultimate pack – and to be honest, we didn’t use all of it. I think it would be great if you were hosting a big murder mystery dinner party – and wanted to do a theme and play the walkthrough video for everyone rather than someone reading everything.

For the two others I bought, I did only get the updated packs – we liked using the corkboard poster to look at the suspects and the alternative endings.

I have been considering having a go at putting my own murder mystery pack together for James’s eldests birthday! I don’t think the quality would be quite as good – but I want to create something personal for him.
