BOOK REVIEW: My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine

I followed straight on from My Roommate is a Vampire – and I loved that, I loved this a lot more. Reggie is such an eccentric character in the first book – it was lovely to learn more about him in this.

Amelia is an accountant, it’s tax return season – she is busy and she bumps into Reggie on the street. There is such a connection from the start. They bump into each other again – and amongst all of this – has been invited to a wedding. Eventually she asks him to do her a favour – and be her plus one – pretending to be her boyfriend so her family don’t give her so much grief for being single!

I said I would love the first one to be a film – and I would love this one too! It would make one hell of a rom-com if done right! I think it’s great that there are references to characters and events in the first. It really gives you an idea of timeline and you get to know where other loved characters ended up.

I think both male characters have been dominant even though most of the book is written from the female characters point of view.

One of the things I criticised about My Roommate is a Vampire was I didn’t feel that Cassie was always giving off the same vibes. SPOILER; There is none of this – you understand why Amelia is trying to keep her distance, and what sparks concern for her – but I think any girl dating someone new would go through this motion. 100 reasons why it wouldn’t work rather than taking the risk as to why it could!

I did have to take a slight break reading this just because of life getting in the way but I 100% loved this.

I am going to read something else before reading the next one in the series to try and get rid of some of the pile of books I currently have stacked up in a To Be Read pile.
